How to Store Your Inflatable Paddle Board in Its Bag

The Wild Tribe Team 4 min read

Before You Pack

Before packing your board, make sure to:

  • Remove all accessories (fins, ankle strap, accessories on D-rings)
  • Clean your board with a pH-neutral eco-friendly product
  • Let it dry completely to prevent mould

Step 1 — Properly Deflate Your Board

Once your inflatable paddle board is deflated, use your pump to remove the remaining air using the deflate connection. This makes it much easier to roll and insert in the bag.

  • Make sure your board valve stem is in the closed position to avoid air re-entering when you remove the nozzle
  • Plug the hose into the deflate mode of your pump
  • Use your pump to deflate your board completely

Step 2 — Roll Your Board

Once deflated, start rolling your board from the nose. When you reach the tail, fold the tail section over your roll. Keep even pressure to create a tight, compact roll.

Pro Tip

Roll slowly and press firmly to squeeze out any remaining air pockets. A tight roll makes the difference between fitting easily in the bag and struggling with it.

Step 3 — Pack the Bag

Place the rolled board in the bag first. Then add the pump and paddle in their designated compartments. Most TWT bags have separate sections to keep everything organized and prevent scratching.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I roll my board every time or can I leave it inflated?
If you paddle regularly, it's fine to leave your board inflated at reduced pressure between sessions. Rolling is best for transport or storage longer than a few days.
Can I roll my board without using the pump to deflate?
Yes, but using the pump's deflate function removes much more air and results in a tighter, easier roll.
My board doesn't fit in the bag after rolling — what am I doing wrong?
Make sure you've removed ALL air using the pump's deflate mode. Roll from the nose slowly with firm, even pressure. If the roll is loose, unroll and try again more tightly.
